Aquarius Underwater Habitat Web cam - Aquarius, an underwater laboratory, is located at Conch Reef, 4 miles offshore in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. The underwater laboratory rests in a sand plain adjacent to deep coral reefs and is currently home to a team of 6 people. The image is refreshed every 15 seconds to a minute depending on activity at the site and connection speeds. Transmission of images and data from Aquarius is by a wireless network.
AUE - The Association of Underwater Explorers - A coalition of divers dedicated to the research, exploration,
documentation, and preservation of submerged cultural resources. This has some very nice articles on and pictures of shipwrecks, including a special section on shipwrecks in Florida waters.
The Cyber Diver News Network - CDNN is the news division of iPlanet, a global publishing network powered by news bureaus in North America, Asia and Europe. They seem to have excellent dive and marine-related news coverage, international dive destination information, a very comprehensive dive gear recall list, and more. iPlanet claims to be the world's largest scuba publishing network with 30 scuba publications in English and Japanese.
Divers Alert Network - Divers Alert Network (DAN) is a non-profit medical and research organization dedicated to the safety and health of recreational scuba divers and associated with Duke University Medical Center (DUMC). DAN is supportedby the largest association of recreational divers in the world. Among other things, DAN provides inexpensive insurance to cover you if you ever have virtually any kind of dive-related accident. If you dive, you should be a member of DAN!
Fishbase.org - A very nice site specializing in fish ID information. Claims to have information on over 26,000 species and over 76,000 name synonyms. Also has a very nice search engine.
Florida Museum of Natural History Ichthyology Department - Image gallery, biological profiles, shark information. tropical research, fish and shark meeting and conference news, and a wealth of other related information. There's also a section just for kids to introduce them to marine-related subjects. There are also links to the International Shark Attack File with related maps, graphs, statistics, and recommendations.

Jacksonville Reef Research Team - The Jacksonville Reef Research Team is a non-profit volunteer organization using research diving to deploy, monitor, and enhance Artificial Reefs off-shore Jacksonville. Originally begun by members of, and affiliated with the Jacksonville Scubanauts, it is now a completely separate organization. It is the oldest volunteer-based underwater research team in Florida.

National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) - Home site of the world's oldest not-for-profit membership training agency organized solely to support and promote dive safety through education.

NOAA's CoastWatch Ocean Product Server - This National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration site maintains links for sea surface temperatures, ocean surface winds, etc.

NOAA Marine Environmental Buoy Database
The NOAA Marine Environmental Buoy Database (NODC File 291) is one of the largest and most frequently used data archives maintained by the NODC. This database holds wind, wave, and other marine data collected by the NOAA National Data Buoy Center (NDBC).

NOAA's National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service - This National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration site maintains links to current satellite images for weather and maritime information

NODC Coastal Water Temperature Guide - This National Oceanographic Data Center presents coastal water temperatures for the county. Click on an area of the map to see an area temperature chart.

Ocean Portal - This site, an effort of IOC and UNESCO, Portal is a high-level directory of ocean data and related web sites. Its objective is to help scientists and other ocean experts in locating such data & information. chart.

National Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) - Home site of one of largest dive training agencies. With 100,000 professional members operating in 175 countries and territories, PADI Instructors are the most diverse group of dive educators in the world.

Spearboard Spearfishing Community - A great resource for offshore hunting information, gossip, techniques, etc. There's a good, active forum, a buddy board, separate sections for discussion of gear, etc. Most reports include offshore conditions which, with the current unseasonably cold water, may save a dive for you.
